I have used many different types of putters over the years, and I have used a blade and mallet, always searching for the best feel and most accurate. I have never used a wood putter; however, I have seen them online and decided now was the time to try one.
I saw a really unique and beautiful wood putter online from Greenwood and after reading on their website more about how they are hand-crafted I had to try one. The Greenwood putters to start with are really works of art, they are great looking, with balanced weight and zero loft. This provides honest feedback and precision alignment.
Here is some background info from the company….
Greenwood Golf started 3+ years ago after finding an old wood head putter in the garage of a house I moved into. Growing up playing golf, putting was always the weakest part of my game no matter what putter I currently had in my bag. As soon as I tried this putter out, I knew there was something different. Soon after making a few prototypes, we got connected to PGA instructor Sam Goulden who helped us create a finished USGA approved putter. Focused on putting performance, we work with an aerospace CNC facility here in Vancouver , Canada. Where all our putters are produced.
Two months ago, we bought a putting machine from the old Ben Hogan studio in Texas. After third-party testing against the top putters in the industry our putter shows a more consistent roll, less skip, and a higher MOI just to name a few key results.
The most important part is the testing on the golf course. I first practiced with the Greenwood putter for about 30 minutes on the practice green. I practiced uphill putts, downhill putts, and putts breaking left to right and right to left. I really gave it a good practice session to make sure I could get a good feel for it. Just to note, where I play, the greens are very fast, and if you are above the hole you are in big trouble trying to stop the golf ball.
The first round I played with the Greenwood putter I had the same number of putts I usually have. The second and third rounds I was 1 less putt each round than normal, and that continued for the next 2 weeks. It was after the 3rd week, I started really rolling the golf ball great. I was making putts I was not making before, and I averaged 3 less putts per round. This may sound like a lot but going from 84 or 85 to 81 or 82 is awesome.
Bottom line, I have continued to use the Greenwood putter and my scores have consistently been lower than earlier on the season. The only change was my putter, and I’m a believer in my new putter. I’m confident that using a hand-crafted and balanced weight wood putter was the is the key to having less putts per round. I also have gained confidence knowing every time I set up to putt, I have a great putter in my hand.
The company website is, https://greenwoodputters.com/ and the cost is $279.00 and there are currently 3 beautiful hand-crafted models to choose from.
