I’ve honestly never changed the shaft in any fairway wood I have ever bought. I never even knew you could until recently that there were options for fairway wood shafts. But now I do.
The company is Newton Golf Shafts and they have just come out with a line of fairway golf shafts after their successful launch of their driver shafts. I use my fairway woods numerous times on every round being a somewhat short hitter, so having a 3-wood that can fly farther, higher, and straighter into long par 4’s and getting close into par 5’s is critical.
The Newton Golf Shafts fairway wood shafts are made with the highest premium materials, and with the same technology used in their driver shafts. Here is info from the company regarding their fairway wood shafts…
This includes our elongated bend profile designs … optimized for fairway wood shaft lengths … and a proprietary kinetic storage construction technique that allows energy generated during the swing to be stored and release in a highly effective and controlled manner. And each individual flex (or Dot) utilizes an optimized bend design and different torque profiles to ensure maximum performance based on swing speed.
Importantly, though, the tip area of Newton Motion Fairway Wood shafts has been
reinforced to withstand turf interaction associated with shots from hard-packed fairways.
I put the Newton Golf Shafts Motion Fairway Shaft into my 3-Callaway wood. Normally I hot my 3-wood pretty good, however not always straight. I tend to hit a fade or slice at times which causes me to lose a lot of distance. I was hitting the 3-wood with the Newton Golf Shafts Motion shaft pretty good. Then after several swings with it, I started to notice my ball was flying a little lower and I was getting about 15 yards longer, maybe due to more roll.
Bottom line, after about 10 rounds using the Newton Golf Shafts Motion 3-wood shaft, I am hitting the ball much straighter and without question longer. For me straighter was the most important aspect, as being in the fairway as opposed to thick rough makes scoring much easier. I am a true fan of the Newton Golf Shafts Motion 3-wood shaft and it will stay in my bag; as I have gained confidence, length and accuracy using it.
In addition, the Newton Golf Shaft has a purple color to hit which is kind of cool looking. The Motion fairway wood shafts are available based on your swing speed (6 swing speed options), so this is not a one size fits all. And they are currently available for a 3-wood, 5-wood and 7-wood.
The company website is, https://newtonshafts.com/products/motion-fairway-3wood and the cost currently is $225.00.
