Who isn’t looking for extra speed and yards on the golf course. I know I am always looking for yards and I am willing to try all new training aids that will help. I’m just not convinced that “special tees” or new and improved golf balls really give you any added yards so besides hitting the gym, golf training aids are the best way to gain yards.
I found a really unique training aid designed for all golfers to gain extra speed in their swing. The product is called the Sling Shot, and I think the best part is that you can use it anywhere, meaning at home inside or outside and at the range before a round. It’s truly very versatile and easy to take with you anywhere.
Here’s what the company says about the Sling Shot…
Experts agree that starting a warm up with a heavy club and working down to a light club benefits players of all skill levels.
SlingShot’s patent pending design with an interchangeable weight system enables you to get four different weight settings from just one training club. In addition, SlingShot provides audible, physical and visual feedback through-out your swing to help you improve your flexibility, balance, tempo, timing and increase your club head speed.
SlingShot works to improve your game because of the feedback it provides from your swing’s start to finish. This critical feedback through-out your swing sequence is created by its patent pending internal magnetic assembly, designed to release the shot inside the barrel upon a sudden burst of speed. The “pop” of the shot inside the barrel lets you know if and when your back swing as well as your down swing are timed correctly. By providing this feedback, you will be able to quickly identify areas of your swing that need improvement and from swing to swing, you will hear, feel and see your game improve.
The Sling Shot comes with 2 75gram weights. You can take out weights and put them back in very easily, as you practice swinging. You simply unscrew the top part and you can take weights out or simply put them back in. You first start off by hovering the Swing Shot about 6 inches off the ground, then you slowly raise the club and take it back and let the shot roll back until you hear a click sound. You then go back to the hoover position to start your swing. Take a smooth swing (if you swing back erratically you will hear a pop sound in your backswing, not good start over), as the key is to keep the shot on the magnet as long as possible during the backswing and then follow through while focusing on accelerating through impact. It takes some practice to get it, but when you do, it becomes the swing speed training aid you will use all the time.
I have been testing the Sling Shot for about 6 weeks, and I’ve been gaining a few extra yards every few weeks. I try to use it at least 3 days a week if not more as I can see the results and it’s so simple and fun to use. Just like any other golf training aid, you have to stick with it, if you do the Sling Shot works!
