I must start out by saying the only clubs I haven’t replaced in years are my Callaway PM Gring wedges. I honestly love them so for a wedge to come into my bag it must truly be a phenomenal wedge, as my short game is what keeps me in every hole. I think I have found a wedge that may be just perfect.
The company is Performance Golf, and I am testing and reviewing their The ONE Wedge. They offer several options to choose from and I have their 56-degree wedge to test out. I immediately noticed it is slightly heavier than my current wedge, and the sole seems to be a little wider than most others.
I grabbed The ONE Wedge and went to our chipping area for some preround testing. We have super thick grass there and first cut and fairway grass, so I was going to test it everywhere. I hit about a dozen shots from the super thick grass, and I was amazed at how easy the golf ball popped out. Usually, I have to open the face a bit and swing a little harder, not with The ONE Wedge. Onto the first cut and fairway grass areas, where I hit at least 30-40 balls. I felt like I was in the zone so I kept hotting balls, it must have been about 20 minutes or so, The ONE Wedge was just popping everything up quickly and landing softly, I was really amazed!
Time for the real test on the golf course, where as previously mentioned I do a lot of chipping and pitching being a short hitter. First shot perfect to about 10 feet from a medium heavy grass lie. Next shot from an almost buried lie, and the ball again popped right out. I thought it was too good to be true, so now after playing with The ONE Wedge for almost a month, it has replaced my 56-degree Callaway PM Grind wedge. The ONE Wedge has performed on every grass option and gotten me up and down on numerous occasions.
