I’ve tried so many putter grips from flat, to square, to round to forward, you name it, I’ve tried it. When I heard about a new putter grip that was made from aluminum, I immediately said that is something I had to try!
First, here’s what the company says about their aluminum putter grip…..
A patent pending aircraft grade aluminum putting grip mounted with two sets of three set screws top and bottom, that helps transmit the vibration from impacting the golf ball through the metal putter head up the metal putter shaft through the metal set screw into the metal golf grip transferring vibration that would otherwise be absorbed through the conventional golf grips made of various foam and rubber compounds dramatically increasing the feel of the putter stroke.
I took the aluminum grip to my golf friends house where he installs all my grips. He immediately said what is this thing, and why. I explained to him that based on what the company said using the vibration will give me real feedback from my putting stroke compared to a traditional grip. He then went ahead and screwed the new aluminum putter grip on one of my Taylormade putters. The installation took less than 5 minutes and was pretty easy. Although I’m not sure how easy it will be take the aluminum grip off as we screwed the screws in pretty tight. My friend immediately had to hit a few putts on his indoor mat, and was impressed as to the feel and vibration.
Test time, as that is the key. I took the putter to the practice putting area first for about 30 minutes to get a feel for it. The putter does make a slight ting sound when you hit your putt. it’s not a bad thing or very loud, just unusual. The aluminum grip is round, which I was happy with, as I used a round grip a long time ago from another company and I liked the feel. First impression was that I could feel like I had more control with the round grip.
Now it’s time to take the Feedback Putter Grip on the golf course to play for real. The first round I averaged the same number of putts with my normal grip, but I really like the feel of the grip, immediate feedback and slight ting sound. Next round I averaged 2 less putts. The 3rd round was also 1 less putts and the 4th and final test round was 3 putts less.
The Feedback Putter Grip has a really good feel in my hands. I really enjoyed putting with the grip and will continue to do so, as it does allow you to really get a better feel for the putter and controlling the distance. I was actually getting feedback from the grip when I was putting unlike any other grip I’ve ever used before. Overall, I really like the Feedback Putter Grip.
The company’s website is www.feedbackgrips.com and the cost of the Feedback Putter Grip is $99.95; currently they are offering a discount so you will pay only $79.95.
