I have reviewed many rangefinders and they continue to improve over the years with the new tech that keeps coming out, however this rangefinder I have been testing may be the ultimate rangefinder.
The company is Garmin, and their Approach Z82 has just about every single option you can think of and more! It has plays like distance which may be better than just slope, 6x magnification, image stabilization, wind speed, flag finder, and what really sets the Garmin Approach Z82 apart is it integrates 43,000 preloaded golf courses.
With the preloaded courses you select the golf course you are playing and you also get inside the eyepiece numerous additional amazing options. Including green view, hazard view, find the pin, wind direction and speed, and even yardage to the front, center and back.
When you pair the Garmin Approach Z82 to the Garmin Golf app, you get even more features, including stats tracking, find my Garmin for those rare but very frustrating times you may leave your Approach Z82 on the golf course or in the golf cart. You can also keep score using the app and participate in weekly leaderboards with friends and family.
I have been using the Garmin Approach Z82 for over a month now, and it is fantastic. It does take a few rounds to figure out everything you have access to, which is a ton of features. I love that you can see the exact hole and all hazards, plus plays like distance, wind and distances to the front center and back which almost no other rangefinder offers. The approach has everything for you to pick the best golf club, avoid hazards, and get truly accurate distances to the flag. The only thing the Approach Z82 does not have is that it is not magnetic, so if you prefer that you will need to purchase a magnetic strap.
Bottom line, the Garmin Approach Z82 has the most features I have ever used. When combined with the Garmin Golf app it offers so much information it’s like having a coach with you for every shot on every round. I love the Garmin Approach Z82 as it gives me everything I could ever want. I prefer knowing what the distance to the front, center, and back on every hole is as in my opinion that also makes a huge difference. The Garmin Approach Z82 is awesome!
