I’ve heard of hybrid irons, but I have never actually used them before, so I was very excited to try a set from MacGregor. The Hybrid irons are definitely larger than your standard iron, however they look like they offer a ton of forgiveness and will get the golf ball in the air easily. I am definitely going to give them a longer test time as they are so unique, and could be very helpful for higher handicap players.
As mentioned, the Hybrid irons are from MacGregor and the name of these irons are MacGregor Golf Wizard Full Hybrid Iron Set. My set has Hybrid irons from 5-PW with graphite shafts and smaller grips which I prefer, and it allows me to test against my current set with the same grips.

I have been used the MacGregor Golf Wizard Full Hybrid Iron Set for about 8 rounds so far. I can attest they are the easiest irons I have ever used to hit the golf ball in the air. They are extremely forgiving regardless of if you mishit it slightly or need to get out of deep rough. The Golf Wizard Hybrid irons are very smooth on chips and pitches, and I’ve yet to chunk anything with them. To be honest I was about 5 yards shorter with these, however I was much straighter. So instead of a shot from the rough, I would be in the first cut or fairway more often which is much easier when you have super thick rough like my home course has.
Bottom line, the MacGregor Golf Wizard Full Hybrid Iron Set is excellent. I would say they are better for middle and higher handicap players. They are very easy to hit out of any area, the golf balls fly higher than my normal irons, so they land a bit softer on the greens. I really like the MacGregor Golf Wizard Full Hybrid Iron Set and feel it has a ton of benefits for my game, and I’m confident many others.
