Successfully reading greens is a real talent that takes years of experience and skill. I must admit that even after playing the same course a few times. I still find it tricky to locate the correct break of the greens. The changing flag positions on the greens make locating the correct line and speed even more challenging.
I’ve found that the Sure Putt Green Reader putting tool definitely helps me read virtually any green. Although using the Sure Putt tool is not permitted during any type of tournament play, the Sure Putt is an outstanding training tool for use when practicing as it’s a great way to get to know the line and curve to a specific flag location. Simply position the Sure Putt to point to any location on the green, from any position above, below, or to the left or right of the flag. The Sure Putt will tell you how your golf ball will roll toward that flag location.
I tried out the Sure Putt Green Reading Tool at my home course, where I’ve played for the past 20 years. I confidently know every break on the 1st green, and from every position the flag could possibly be in. I believe that I can successfully putt with my eyes closed on the 1st hole, as I practice here almost every night in the spring, fall and summer, and occasionally even in the winter. I knew this would make for a great test to see how accurate this tool really is.
I placed the Sure Putt Green Reader down and pointed it at the flag on the green and it read, “uphill breaking to the right”, which from my experience was dead on. I rolled 6 putts to confirm the reading and the Sure Putt was absolutely correct. I then took the Sure Putt Green Reader to two alternate locations on the green where flags are placed on other days. I again hit 6 putts based upon the Sure Putt’s direction. Sure Putt was dead on!
The next test was on the course’s 6th green, which I occasionally putt on. I placed the Sure Putt on 3 separate locations and again took 6 putts from each location. The Sure Putt was extremely accurate. Finally, I took the Sure Putt to the 8th green for its last test. I placed the Sure Putt in 4 separate locations, as this green is rather large. I putted 6 balls from each location to the flag, based upon the Sure Putt’s displayed break direction. Not surprisingly, the Sure Putt proved accurate again.
