Interested in a really good 2 piece golf ball?

What’s the best affordable golf ball?

I’m always looking for those 10 extra yards, or getting that special ball spin off your wedge shot that you see only on T.V. When I heard that there was a new company selling affordable golf balls, I figured that I had to try them out. Bixtar Golf has a single golf ball offering – a 2-piece soft golf ball which the company bills as being ideal for the everyday golfer. I tried the their balls on 2 different days at my home course and compared the results.

I think that I’ve tried every ball known to man – from the Pro V1 to Top Flite, and I can honestly say that I find them all very similar. Perhaps this is because I’m an 11 handicap with a swing speed in the mid 80’, so the type of ball may not really matter? Regardless, I continue to search for a ball that flies straight, long, and putts well. If a ball provides wedge spin, then that’s even better!

It was time to take the Bixtar golf balls out for a few rounds and here’s what happened. Both days the balls performed almost identical. The driver distance was a bit less than my normal ball distance, however my irons and wedges went just as long as using any other ball. A few times out of the sand, the ball definitely had spin which made it stop quickly. I was impressed by how the ball stopped quickly on a few wedge shots. I found that the Bixtar balls made the greatest impact on my putting game as the ball has a hard feel which putted beautifully. Both days I played, the ball seemed to roll very smoothly to the hole, never really rolling out too far past the hole. NOTE: Unique to Bixtar is an arrow that’s visible on each ball which can be used to line up a drive or putt (pictured below).

Choosing golf balls can be very personal and everyone’s different. After using these balls for two full 18 hole rounds, my scores were about the same as playing with a more costly Callaway Chrome Soft, or any other similar ball, for that matter. On the first day, I shot 86 and it was rather chilly and windy on the course. On the second day, the weather was pleasant and only a slight breeze – I shot 81.

Bottom line – Bixtar makes a good ball for the money.. Bixtar isn’t a brand name just yet, but their balls performed very well and at an affordable price. I recommend that Bixtar balls are definitely worthy of being tested out by everyone.
