In my opinion all alignment sticks are a very useful training aid, and very helpful on the range. As we know they allow us to make sure our feet, shoulders, and body is in alignment, and can you also used in some cases to make sure our swing is on plane. However, the alignment sticks I have found offer that and a whole lot more.
The company is Total Sticks, and it is an idea from Tony Retotal, a registered nurse in Hawaii, and golf is his favorite hobby. It all began when teaching his school-aged children the game. Tony came up with alignment sticks with color coded markings for the ball position and their feet placement, called Total Sticks.
Total Sticks are simple to use. Now, his kids place them down on driving range mats and confidently know where the ball and their feet should be. We started with a simple vision: to create a tool that helps golfers, of all ages and skill levels, with the golf setup position.
- Total Sticks are available in several options, a Full Swing Stick, a Short Game Stick, a Putting Distance Control Stick, and are available in both Adult size and Junior size. The Total Sticks use color on the alignment sticks so you know exactly where to place your feet based on which golf club you are swinging. For the Full Swing Stick they recommend this.. Ball position section defined within the two black lines.
- Color coded stance configurations:
- Green = Wedges, Irons
- Yellow = Hybrids, Fairway Woods
- Red = Driver
For the Short Game Stick they recommend this…
- Ball position section defined within the two black lines.
- Color coded stance configurations:
- Gray & Green = Low chip shot
- Gray & Yellow = Medium chip shot
- Gray & Red = High chip shot
- Gray & Blue = Pitch shot
- Purple = Putting
- Gold = Bunker
And for the Total Sticks Putting Distance Control Stick they recommend this…
- Ball position section defined within the two black lines.
- Six color segments for putting stroke configurations.
- Example putt distances:
- Green-to-Green = putt goes 4 feet
- Yellow-to-Yellow = putt goes 6 feet
- Red-to-Red = putt goes 8 feet
- Blue-to-Blue = putt goes 12 feet
- Purple-to-Purple = putt goes 18 feet
- Gold-to-Gold = putt goes 24 feet
I have been taking the Total Sticks to the driving range and practice putting green now for about a month. Using the colors on the Total Sticks is extremely helpful and very simple to use. It makes practicing much easier and with no more guessing what goes where with this club or that club. I can understand now why Tony developed these initially for his kids, as it makes learning proper alignment much simpler and very easy to learn and remember when on the golf course. In my opinion, Total Sticks for adults and juniors is a great idea and a great training aid.
The Total Sticks website is, https://www.total-sticks.com/ and I encourage everyone who has any issues with proper alignment, or who has a junior just learning golf, this is an easy and effective excellent training aid.
