I must admit it that in more than a few instances, I’ve chomped down on a golf tee or two. This usually occurs directly after a poor tee shot. Although I’m not convinced that my chewing habit necessarily helps me better cope with my own frustrations, I have seen other golfers chomping down on their golf tees as well, so perhaps this odd behavior of mine may be more common than I think?
To all my fellow tee-chompers, allow me to introduce the Tas-Tee Flavored Golf Tee. Although you can’t eat them, the company suggests that they be sucked on, similar to a lollipop. Tas-Tee’s flavored golf tees are made of plastic. It is a specialized and patented blend of flavored material inside of the polypropylene plastic. Tas-Tee uses a similar technology to the flavored mouth guards for football and basketball.
Tas-Tee flavor options include Wintergreen, Cherry and Cinnamon. Variety packs are also available. First I tested their Wintergreen flavor, and although I found it mildly flavorful and similar to chewing gum, I must admit that I was a little self-conscious with the idea of sucking on a golf tee. Although I would have preferred for the flavor to have lasted longer, I do understand that swinging a golf club, driving the golf cart, and putting out with a tee in my mouth probably isn’t the best of decisions . . . perhaps that’s why the flavor lasts as short a time as it does. I want to be clear – I am in no way endorsing the practice of keeping a golf tee in your mouth while actively playing golf.
I then tried my favorite flavor which is Cinnamon. The Cinnamon was a bit stronger than the Wintergreen from the start and I think the flavor lasted a bit longer. I would also compare the taste to Cinnamon flavored chewing gum as well. Again, these Tas-Tee golf tees can be used just like a real wood golf tee after your done enjoying the flavor.
The company is Tas-Tee, and their website is www.tas-tee.com. The selling price for a pack of 24 flavored tees is $16.00 or an 8 pack for $5.00.
Overall, it’s a very unique idea and is different than anything I’ve ever seen before. After a few rounds of golf using the flavored tees, it’s all the guys I golf with were talking about for the next several weeks.
