There are an infinite number of ways to putt the golf ball, and there are hundreds of putters available in the marketplace. Yet all these putters have one thing in common – their steel shafts are virtually identical.
During my quest for a “better putter”, I’ve gone through more than a dozen putters over the last 10 years, all in a failed search find a putter that will really improve my performance. After a lot of research, I may have found my answer – the Stability Shaft from Breakthrough Golf Technology. They have developed a shaft that replaces your existing putter’s shaft. I sent my Scotty Cameron putter to them and had them replace the original shaft with their Stability Shaft.
Breakthrough Golf Technology kept my putter for approximately 2-3 days, while keeping me informed of their progress all along the way. I had absolutely no issues with Breakthrough’s excellent customer service and I received my putter back within 5 days with no concerns. There are golf fitters such as Club Champion and Club Fix that currently offer the Stability Shaft. This allows you to take your putter directly to these locations to get the Stability Shaft added to your putter, as opposed to mailing your putter in to the company.
I took my refitted and now unusual looking, Scotty Cameron putter (see pics attached) to my home course putting green to practice some putts. When I received some interesting looks from my friends, I explained that I was trying a new Stability shaft which was supposed to improve my consistency on the putting greens.
It was time for some testing under pressure as our groups chose to play for a little cash. The putter did feel slightly heavier, however this could have been my imagination as it’s fatter than the standard metal shaft that we’re all familiar with. Although my first few putts came up a bit short, this may have been due to slower greens caused by recent heavy rains . . . or perhaps it was my tentative putting. As the day got hotter and the greens were definitely getting speedier, my putts rolled smoother and were no longer short, several were even a bit long.
After some late night practice putting after round one, I felt much more confident. Not to brag . . . but the next round I had my second best round putting with 27 putts and shot a very good round. The Stability Shaft proved to be much more stable and gave me the confidence to swing through each putt. There’s a lot of science behind the Stability Shaft, which I suggest you read on their website as I could never explain it all as clearly as they do, but I will say it works!
The company website is www.breakthroughgolftech.com and the Stability Shaft costs $199. I believe it’s a very good investment, as putting in my opinion is the most important part of the game and the great equalizer! Everyone uses their putter more than any other club in your bag, so why not use any advantage you can find. I’ve since retired my other putters as they just can’t compare to the accuracy and consistency of my Scotty Cameron with the added Stability Shaft.
